Lisa Noble was born Lisa Armstrong Bertnick, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1973. She studied fine art at the Alberta College of Art and Design and completed her BFA at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C. in 2001.

The artist employs her own image as a vehicle through which to convey how she interprets physical as well as less tangible notions of identity through beauty. An array of past and contemporary female stock characters assists in this ongoing process of illustrated self-evaluation. Inspired by photographs and imagination, recurring subject matter includes fashion models, pinup girls, superheroines, waitresses, nymphs, and silver screen stars to name a few.

Today, the artist reflects upon the experience of creating her 2004 series of digital pinups with a renewed interest in large format drawings made with traditional studio materials such as graphite, charcoal and ink on paper.
